My mom is strict about social media -- Juliana Olayode

In a recent Instagram video commemorating Mothering Sunday, Nigerian film actress Juliana Olayode, known for her role as Toyosi or Toyo Baby in Funke Akindele’s hit series “Jenifa’s Diary,” shared a personal revelation concerning her relationship with social media and her mother’s stance on it.

Olayode, who regularly engages her followers on social platforms, disclosed that her mother had issued a stern warning against posting her on social media.

The actress recounted an incident where she shared a video of them at the cinema on Facebook, only to have it result in uncomfortable attention from neighbors.

According to Olayode, her mother expressed discomfort with the sudden public recognition that followed the social media post.

She said;

“My mum said: ‘hello Jully, don’t post me on social media anymore. The last time you put me on Facebook when we went to watch ‘Lion of Judah’ (A Tribe Called Judah), all our neighbors just keep staring at me’.”

The 28-year-old actress previously defended her mother against a troll who criticized her mother’s English proficiency after being asked to review Funke Akindele’s film, “A Tribe Called Judah.” Olayode passionately emphasized her love and pride for her mother despite language differences, urging others to honor and celebrate their parents regardless of societal judgments.
