Funke Akindele breaks down amidst accusations

Renowned Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, has addressed accusations of abandonment following the demise of her former cast member, Jumoke Aderounmu, known for her role in the popular series “Jenifa’s Diary.”

Late Jumoke Aderounmu, aged 40, passed away on April 6, prompting an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues within the entertainment industry. However, amidst the mourning, allegations surfaced on social media suggesting that Funke Akindele had neglected Jumoke in her time of need.

The controversy arose when Jumoke’s brother took to social media to imply that Funke Akindele had failed to support his sister before her death but was quick to express condolences publicly.

In response to the backlash, Funke Akindele-Bello held a live Instagram session to refute the claims.

Tearfully addressing the accusations, she explained that she was unaware of Jumoke’s struggles and had reached out to another actor, Jide Awobona, who was close to Jumoke, to inquire about her well-being.

According to Akindele-Bello, Jide informed her that Jumoke had expressed a desire for job opportunities and reassured that she would assist whenever possible.

Expressing her dismay at the situation, Funke Akindele stressed that she had not been informed of Jumoke’s health issues and had extended her condolences to the grieving family. She further stated her willingness to assist those in need but preferred not to publicize her charitable acts.

Additionally, she highlighted her own personal struggles, including the loss of her mother and challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, urging empathy and understanding from the public.
