"Sam Loco was something else" -- Charles Inojie

We will never see Sam Loco Efe’s like again, Nollywood actor, Charles Inojie relieves memories of the late thespian and comic actor.

When it comes to the Nigerian film industry, the name ‘Sam Loco Efe’ will forever remain in the minds of many, and for Nollywood actor, Charles Inojie, ‘Uncle Sam’ as the late thespian has come to be known, is by far a generational talent whose like may not be seen again.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, veteran Nigerian actor Charles Inojie expressed heartfelt admiration for his late colleague, Sam Loco-Efe, whom he hailed as the “most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived.”

Charles Inojie, known for his candid remarks, shared anecdotes about Loco-Efe’s exceptional intellect, describing it as being “from another planet.”

During the interview, Inojie reminisced about Loco-Efe’s unique approach to acting, noting that the late actor could casually smoke a cigarette while effortlessly absorbing and correcting his co-stars’ lines from a distance.

Inojie highlighted Loco-Efe’s ability to read a scene just once, requiring others to rehearse while he effortlessly delivered his lines.

Despite Loco-Efe’s brilliance, Inojie expressed disappointment that the late actor never received a national honour during his lifetime.

Inojie lamented the irony of a country where national honours are bestowed upon newcomers while a seasoned actor like Loco-Efe, who earned a special mention from the Queen as the best actor in Africa during Nigeria’s entry to FESTAC 1977 with the film “Lambodo,” passed away without such recognition.

Inojie emphasized the posthumous acknowledgment that Loco-Efe deserved, citing his outstanding contributions to the Nigerian film industry and his notable recognition on an international stage.

The actor urged authorities to consider honoring Loco-Efe posthumously, underscoring his significant impact on Nollywood.
