Graeme Souness returns for Paul Pogba

When it comes to Paul Pogba, there is no love lost or love found for former Liverpool manager and player, Graeme Souness. And even if the Frenchman will be absent from the sport for a while at the very least, the Liverpool legend cannot stop himself from throwing shades at the former Manchester United player.

Following the news that Pogba will be banned for 4-years due to a failed doping test, Graeme Souness returns for the Frenchman.

Souness, known for his outspoken opinions, accused Pogba of lacking honesty and labeled him as ‘lazy’.

Pogba, a former Manchester United player and a key figure in France’s 2018 FIFA World Cup victory, is currently appealing the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), expressing shock and heartbreak over the verdict.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Souness expressed his disappointment rather than amusement at Pogba’s situation, stating,

“For me, there really was never any doubt about Pogba’s ability… What I saw in him was a player with great technical ability and physique who had the potential to be one of the best midfield players our sport had ever known.”

However, Souness reiterated his long-standing criticism of Pogba’s attitude, citing a perceived lack of effort and honesty throughout his career.

The former player turned pundit remarked,

“It was his lack of honesty and poor effort levels which always frustrated me. Frankly, he was lazy.”

The ex-Liverpool player and manager is well known to be very critical of Paul Pogba, particularly during Pogba’s time at Manchester United.
