"Funke Akindele is not what you think" -- Yvonne Jegede

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has lauded her experience collaborating with senior colleague Funke Akindele on the newly released film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ shedding light on the depth of knowledge and understanding she gained about the craft during their partnership.

In an exclusive interview with Legit, Jegede expressed her admiration for Funke Akindele’s unparalleled proficiency in filmmaking, attributing her time on the movie set to a transformative learning curve.

The talented actress shared captivating insights about Funke Akindele, emphasizing her role as an ‘insane’ filmmaker who meticulously oversees every aspect of production while on set.

“Working with Funke on this new project took me to a whole new level of understanding and knowledge about filmmaking,” Jegede remarked.

“She is an insane filmmaker who perfectly orchestrates every part of the production. My respect for her has doubled; I can’t even address her without adding ‘Big Sis.'”

Jegede’s admiration extended to Akindele’s professional demeanor, noting the stark contrast between the on-screen persona and the dedicated and serious approach she maintains during filming sessions.

“When you see her on TV, you would think she loves to have fun, play around, dance, and be goofy. That’s a lie! She’s a very serious person when she’s on set,” Jegede elaborated.

“Her commitment and preparation before stepping onto the set are remarkable. She possesses an intricate understanding of every department, which she executes to perfection. To be honest, she’s exceptional.”

Despite acknowledging Akindele’s excellence in the cinematic realm, Jegede clarified her own intentions, expressing no immediate plans to replicate Akindele’s achievements due to the substantial financial investments required.

“It was a great and awesome experience working on this project. It was something different from what I had been doing, and I loved it,” Jegede reflected.

“However, emulating Funke Akindele’s feats in the cinemas is too capital-intensive for me. I hold her in high esteem for her remarkable expertise.”
