Will Qatar come for Liverpool? -- Fabrizio Romano speaks

Renowned transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has shed light on recent developments surrounding the potential acquisition of English football giants, Liverpool, by the Qatari consortium led by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani.

Reports emerged over the past weekend indicating that Sheikh Jassim’s Qatari consortium had withdrawn from the race to purchase Manchester United.

In light of this decision, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the head of INEOS, is now in the final stages of negotiations to secure a 25 percent stake in Manchester United.

This significant shift in the football ownership landscape has led to heightened speculation that Sheikh Jassim may redirect the substantial funds earmarked for the United project towards acquiring Liverpool, United’s historic rivals.

As per Mike Keegan’s report in the Daily Mail, approximately $8 billion (£6.57 billion) had been allocated for the Manchester United endeavor, and these funds remain readily available for investment.

Over the past year, Liverpool’s ownership situation has been a topic of discussion, initially sparking rumors of a potential sale by the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG).

However, subsequent revelations clarified that FSG was primarily seeking investors to bolster the club’s financial resources rather than pursuing a full sale.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently took to social media to provide insights into Sheikh Jassim‘s intentions.

Romano stated,

“Sources close to Sheikh Jassim guarantee that his decision to leave the negotiations for Man United is 100% guaranteed and confirmed.

“No current plans to change that. Glazers family, already informed last week after final bid rejected.”

With British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team poised to oversee the football operations at Manchester United should their deal receive approval, the Glazer family, the current majority stakeholders, will retain their leadership on the commercial front.
