What I will regret -- Jurgen Klopp

The Jurgen Klopp era slowly arrives at its end with the away trip to Aston Villa set to be the German boss’ penultimate fixture with Liverpool.

Ahead of the clash with Unai Emery’s side at Villa Park, the outgoing manager spoke on a range of topics, ranging from what he might regret once he hangs the Liverpool training gear on match day 38.

In his pre match press conference, Jurgen Klopp was quoted speaking on his regrets at not playing Liverpool’s wonder kid, Harvey Elliott more in games which for the German had a part to play in the English youngster not gaining the recognition he believes he deserves.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss said;

“If I regret anything it’s that Harvey didn’t play often enough.”

This comes after the No. 19 was snubbed in the Young Player of the Premier League Season nominee list that featured the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Erling Haaland, William Saliba and the like. Harvey Elliott was also snubbed in the England national team call up with Kobbie Mainoo getting called up by Gareth Southgate instead.

However, Klopp believes Elliott’s call up is only a matter of time.

“He is in a great moment. If someone wants to pick him, he has everything he needs. He can pack a suitcase in an instant.”

“There’s no speculation…. yeah he was definitely not happy missing that chance (v Spurs). He was unlucky in so many situations. Really tough for a young man. He has big expectations on himself. His problem is he’s that so good he’s constantly in these moments.”
