Victor Boniface reacts to AFCON news

Nigeria’s hopes for the 2023 African Cup of Nations have been dealt a significant blow as Victor Boniface, the talented forward representing both the Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen, has been ruled out of the tournament due to a groin injury.

The 23-year-old Nigerian international suffered the setback during a training session, leading to his absence from Sunday’s test game against local club Al Gharbia and the subsequent Monday’s match against the Syli Nationale of Guinea.

Owngoalnigeria reported the details of Boniface’s injury, indicating that a scan revealed the severity of the groin injury.

It was confirmed that the forward would head back to Germany for treatment, expecting a recovery period of approximately six weeks, which unfortunately sidelines him for the entirety of the African Cup of Nations.

Expressing his disappointment and acknowledging his exit from the squad, Boniface took to Instagram to convey his well-wishes to his teammates, posting, “Good luck guys… Wish you all the best at AFCON.”
