Sergio Ramos addresses what really happened in viral video

Former Real Madrid stalwart Sergio Ramos has found himself embroiled in controversy after a video surfaced online, showcasing his refusal to sign a Real Madrid shirt while autographing Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain jerseys.

The 37-year-old defender, who enjoyed a remarkable 16-season tenure at Real Madrid, received criticism from sections of the fanbase following the viral video capturing his decision to abstain from signing a Real shirt.

The footage, circulated on various platforms including X, triggered a wave of disapproval among Real Madrid supporters on social media platforms, questioning Ramos’s reluctance to autograph the club’s apparel.

Responding to the backlash, Sergio Ramos defended his actions, citing prior instances where he had already signed multiple Real Madrid shirts.

Ramos took to X to explain,

“Before that moment, I had already signed about 6 @realmadrid shirts. And then there are people who auction them or sell them on the Internet…”

Ramos’s association with Real Madrid spans back to his arrival in 2005, amassing an impressive record of 671 appearances and netting 101 goals for the club.

Despite contributing significantly to the team’s success, winning five La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies during his tenure, his recent actions stirred disappointment among Real supporters.

Last summer, Ramos made a notable return to Sevilla after declining lucrative offers from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia, marking a pivotal shift in his career away from the iconic white jersey of Real Madrid.

In a related news, the ex-Real Madrid player was spotted awarding Colombian pop star, Shakira, with a Latin Grammy for a track that teased former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.
