The 2022/23 season has started with quite a lot of Nigerians with red hot form, particularly in the Italian Serie A with Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman taking names while kicking the round leather ball into the back of the net.
All that is set to continue though, as the world gets ready to play the final league games before the FIFA World Cup in Qatar come knocking around the corner.
When Serie A leaders Napoli play Empoli on Tuesday night at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Victor Osimhen will try to achieve a new height (today).
The Nigerian international has scored in each of his previous four Serie A games, confirming his place among Napoli’s elite players.
If the 23-year-old scores another goal today, he will break Arkadiusz Milik’s record.
Victor Osimhen will be eager to replicate Milik’s record of five straight games with a goal, which was last held by a Napoli player.
In 2019, the Polish international accomplished the feat.
Osimhen scored once in Napoli’s 2-1 away victory against Atalanta on Saturday, becoming him the highest-scoring Nigerian in the Italian top division.
This year, Napoli has not lost in Serie A.
