"No one will buy Osimhen for £100 million" -- Ex-Liverpool star

Victor Osimhen may have his fans but when it comes to former Real Madrid and Liverpool star, Steve McManaman, he is indifferent about the hype surrounding the Super Eagles player.

According to the former Midfield maestro, the £100 million price tag placed on the Nigerian is over priced judging from his performances this season.

McManaman asserts that Victor Osimhen does not play like the €100 million signing Napoli wants rival clubs to believe. The Liverpool icon insists that only premier league clubs could afford his release clause, thus ruling out interests from the Bundesliga and the La Liga if the Napoli forward was to depart the Serie A at the end of the season.

Osimhen’s rise to prominence came after an impressive season with Napoli, during which he scored 26 goals and provided five assists in 32 league games, ultimately helping the club secure the Serie A title for the first time in over three decades.

Following his stellar performance, numerous top European clubs, including Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and even Real Madrid, have shown interest in acquiring his services.

Napoli further fueled speculation by extending Osimhen’s contract in 2023, including a release clause valued between €120 million and €130 million. The club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, confirmed Osimhen’s impending departure from the club, adding weight to the transfer rumors.

In an interview with TNT Sports, McManaman predicted Osimhen’s probable move to a Premier League club in the upcoming summer transfer window but questioned whether he truly merits his lofty price tag.

McManaman stated,

“His sellable value has to be the Premier League because Germany, of course, has not got the finances. The big teams in Spain have not got the finances, particularly if Real Madrid takes Mbappe. The only place he can go is the Premier League, and he is certainly not playing like a £100 million player, and that is what they want for him.”
