I was used by the APC -- Mr. Jollof

Popular Nigerian comedian Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, has made a revelation that he was “used and dumped” by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Jollof, hailing from Warri and widely recognized as an internet sensation, disclosed that he was once a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu and the APC.

However, he has since shifted his allegiance to the camp of former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who is the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections.

In a trending video on the internet, Mr Jollof humorously shared the journey of his political transformation, citing a biblical reference as the catalyst for his decision.

Quoting from Luke 15:1-32, the parable of the lost son, he likened his situation to that of someone who had left his father’s house and fallen short of his glory.

Consequently, he realized the need to correct his wrongs and return to the fold of his “father,” represented by Ifeanyi Okowa.

Addressing the citizens, Mr Jollof expressed his concerns about the current hardships faced by Nigerians, particularly the surge in fuel prices and the prevailing economic challenges.

He revealed that he had warned the people to stop supporting the APC after defecting to the PDP camp, but his advice was not heeded seriously.

Elaborating further, he stated,

“I supported Tinubu from the beginning, but when I saw the people surrounding him and realized how they operate, I knew they were users. APC used me.”

His decision to switch sides and embrace Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP was apparently motivated by a sense of disappointment with the ruling party.

Mr Jollof’s switch to the PDP came as a surprise to many of his fans and followers who were accustomed to his outspoken and often humorous political commentary. He admitted that his boldness in expressing his opinions had faced criticism in the past, but he remained undeterred.

The comedian’s endorsement of Ifeanyi Okowa and the PDP has garnered significant attention on social media platforms. However, the impact of his public declaration on the political landscape remains to be seen.
