TopNaija’s Premier League Predictions For The Weekend

Once more, Europe’s most marketed football league, the English Premier League returns after a short international break. So, to prepare for the weekend, we look at a list of fixtures that would grace our screens in the weekend to predict what the outcome might be.

The Premier League being Europe’s most marketed league isn’t by name only, but tactics employed such as its scheduling, and with club football returning after a 2-week hiatus, what better way to bring things back to perspective than with tension fueled fixture?

At Saturday lunch time at 12:30 pm, Manchester City play host at the Etihad to Liverpool as they hope to gain one step closer to title rivals, Arsenal in the premier league standing. Liverpool on the other hand will be going into the game having never won at the Etihad since 2015 in the premier league, but this time, needing more points than they could imagine.

They still stand a chance to make it into the Champions League spot if they can put the pressure on Tottenham and possibly Manchester United and the likes of Newcastle. However, Pep Guardiola will be very stringent with his tactics to deny the Reds any chance at a single point.

Topnaija predicts however a 0-2 victory for the away team in what has become a derby between Manchester City VS. Liverpool.

It is worthy of note to bear in mind though that despite our predictions, Liverpool this season have never gotten a positive result on a 12:30 pm Saturday fixture, will this be any different? We predict it will.

Arsenal15:00Leeds United, will continue premier league actions on the afternoon at home at the Emirates. There is no chance the Gunners will settle for less, so Topnaija settles for a 3-1 score line, with Leeds United however proving to startle a rustled Arsenal early on.

Bournemouth15:00Fulham, will be running concurrently with Bournemouth fighting against the relegation drop, and Fulham looking farther ahead to secure a European spot for next season.

Topnaija however predicts a draw in this fixture, a 1-1 draw, with Bournemouth showing resilience in holding Fulham from creating further damage.

Brighton and Hove Albion15:00Brentford, will be quite the interesting match, we predict a highly tense match-up with a winner coming late on for Brentford in a 2-3 win.

Crystal Palace15:00Leicester City, is a tricky fixture for both teams. Palace recently sacked their coach, Patrick Vieira. A new manager bounce for the home team? It could be a tricky 2-1 slight win for Crystal Palace or Brendan Rodgers hitting the Eagles with a 0-3 defeat.

Nottingham Forest15:00Wolverhampton Wanderers, this fixture has Forest given what Wolverhampton lack; a home advantage, and with Forest looking to scale higher up the league table, it will be either a 2-2 draw or a 2-1 win for Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea 17:30 Aston Villa, this fixture takes place in the evening, the Saturday weekend’s last game. Graham Potter will be looking to step right back after the disappointing result against Everton shortly before the break.

Aston Villa likewise will have Unai Emery looking to brighten things for his side at Stamford bridge, but Chelsea are at home and will be looking to the positive side, hence a 2-0 result will do well to re-emphasize that.
