Erling Haaland a major doubt against Liverpool
Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, is a major doubt for the upcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool this weekend.
The 22-year-old was not seen during training on Thursday ahead of the highly anticipated game at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland had withdrawn from Norway’s first two Euro 2024 qualifiers due to an injury, which now makes his availability for Saturday’s match uncertain.
The Norwegian international had played for just over an hour in Manchester City’s last game, an FA Cup quarter-final victory over Burnley, before being substituted due to a groin problem. If Erling Haaland is unable to feature in the Liverpool game, it will be a significant blow to City’s hopes of securing a win in this crucial fixture.
Manchester City shared pictures of Wednesday’s session on their official club media platforms as the players returned from international duty. The images showed the participation of defenders Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake, while Jack Grealish was also among the England stars who had resumed club duty after the international break.
Haaland’s absence will be a significant loss for the Sky Blues, who are currently in second place in the Premier League table, one point behind leaders Manchester United. Meanwhile, Liverpool are three points behind City and will be eager to secure a win that could give them a significant advantage in the title race.
