The 'Harry Kane' curse is a bad lie and an unfair Hate for Kane

The Harry Kane curse is term the media should be kicking against.

You can take the man out of Spurs but you can’t take the Spurs out of the man, rival fans troll Harry Kane after his first season turns sour at Bayern Munich just months after he departed Tottenham Hotspur for the Bundesliga.

Fate, media narratives and banter surface as just a year after winning their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title, the German side now find themselves struggling to keep up the pace of a title race with a Xabi Alonso Bayer Leverkusen side. And testament to how cruel football can be, the fall of Bayern Munich comes just after Harry Kane made the move to Munich.

From being praised for making the step up from Tottenham, the highly rated striker, sees himself the butt of the joke as the term ‘Harry Kane curse’ swings into narrative to explain a horror show that has taken its shape as Bayern Munich’s season.

The England international for some; either due to banter or for laughs, has seen himself become the ridicule, and perhaps the fall guy this season, with many seeing his move as an explanation to a falling Bayern Munich team. But is it though? Is the man, Harry Kane cursed, despite being so highly rated as a top player?

The 'Harry Kane' curse is a bad lie and an unfair Hate for Kane

Surely, no one can believe that, even if many would easily believe his former club, Tottenham Hotspur is cursed for failing to win any tangible title in recent years.

The fall of Bayern Munich was a move that everyone saw coming from a mile away after last season’s campaign saw the Bavarians end up with their 11-th consecutive Bundesliga title just at the tale end of the 2022/23 campaign, thanks to Borussia Dortmund choosing to bottle it.

In fact, if there stands any superstition to explain Bayern’s current fall, the theory of the tired ‘winner’ narrative best defines Bayern Munich, than a Kane curse following a striker who this season has lived up to his signing and provided the goals when needed.

Bayern Munich are a tired team suffering from tired legs and a lack of inspiration.

There is also the narrative of the Bayern Munich board making the mistake of sacking Julian Nagelsmann and replacing him with Thomas Tuchel in the middle of the 2022/23 campaign despite the former RB Liepzig boss getting the results that were needed to keep the team in the title race.

Criticizing Bayern Munich’s current manager, Thomas Tuchel and his tactics would be ignored though, considering the online banter has chosen to ignore the former Chelsea boss in favor of a man who in his entire career, has failed to win any single trophy.

Hence, this article is meant to point out the absurdity on how the internet and the media can come up with a narrative such as ‘the Harry Kane curse’ when the obvious stares them in the face.

Is Harry Kane unlucky? Yes. Unlucky to have stayed longer than he was supposed to at Spurs and unlucky to have made the move to Bayern Munich when he did.
