Harry Kane curse: Fans are now convinced it's real

A season without trophies could finally become a reality for Bayern Munich this season, and social media has fingers pointing at one man; Harry Kane.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man isn’t having a break from all the superstitious narratives going around him, with Bayern’s recent defeat to Borussia Dortmund cementing fans’ view of the English man being cursed.

Harry Kane’s misfortune during Bayern Munich’s recent defeat against Borussia Dortmund surely reignited the speculation among fans, with some suggesting the curse may in fact be real after a shocking miss during the match.

On Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen, current Bundesliga leaders, widened their lead at the top of the table to 13 points following a thrilling late victory over Hoffenheim.

Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich side aimed to reduce the gap to 10 points with a triumph over Dortmund at the Allianz Arena. However, goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson secured a 2-0 victory for Dortmund.

In a crucial moment during the match, with the score line at 1-0, Harry Kane squandered a significant opportunity to equalize. Despite being unmarked inside the penalty area, Kane failed to convert a header from a cross, sending the ball wide of the goal.

Social media erupted with reactions from fans, many attributing Kane’s miss to a perceived curse.

One fan expressed, “Kane curse is real,” while another humorously remarked,

“You can take the man out of Spurs but you can’t take the Spurs out of the man.”

Reflecting on the disappointing performance, Bayern star Joshua Kimmich voiced his bewilderment, describing the team’s display as inexplicable and likening it to a casual friendly match.

Bayern boss Tuchel conceded defeat in the Bundesliga title race, acknowledging Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive lead at the top of the table. He remarked, “Congratulations to Bayer Leverkusen. The title race is over,” signaling the end of Bayern Munich’s aspirations for the league title.
