NiMet predicts Dust Haze and Thunderstorms across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued weather predictions indicating that dust haze and thunderstorms are expected from Friday to Sunday throughout the country.

In the weather forecast released in Abuja, NiMet anticipates dust haze on Friday, primarily affecting the northern regions of Nigeria, with visibility ranging from 2 kilometers to 5 kilometers. There is a possibility of localized thunderstorms in certain areas of Taraba state during the morning hours.

As the day progresses, the northern region is expected to continue experiencing dust haze with visibility ranging from 2 kilometers to 5 kilometers. Additionally, there are prospects of thunderstorms in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna states.

For the North Central region, the forecast suggests cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine in the morning, and localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, and Kogi states.

In the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms are expected to occur in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Benue states.

In other regions, NiMet predicts thunderstorms in the morning for Ondo, Ogun, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Cross River, Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states.

Later in the day, these states are likely to experience thunderstorms with rain. Specifically, the forecast includes Edo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Lagos states.

Moving on to Saturday’s weather forecast, NiMet predicts dust haze in the northern region during the morning hours, with visibility ranging from 2 kilometers to 5 kilometers.

There is a possibility of thunderstorms in parts of Taraba and Adamawa states later in the day.

In the North Central region, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected in the morning, and there are chances of thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Niger, and Benue states.

Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Kogi, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Kwara states.
