Pastor Adeboye bows to pressure over Israel tweet

Redeemed Christian Church of God’s general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye took the internet by storm on Thursday when he released a video on Twitter on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Pastor Adeboye’s video recorded the clergyman praying for the State of Israel in the ongoing conflict. However, the video did not earn him the applauds especially from his own countrymen, who quickly hit out at the RCCG overseer on the platform.

In their outrage, they faulted Pastor Adeboye for keeping quiet to many political narratives that bothered Nigeria and Nigerians while being quick to release a video praying for a foreign country that was embroiled in its own war.

Call on God to kill me if … — Pastor Adeboye

The backlash from Nigerians resulted in the tweet being deleted soon after.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas, a political and militant movement governing the Gaza strip in Palestinian territory, escalated on October 7, with Hamas’ attack leading to the death of over 150 Israelis.

In a message titled “Special message to the nation of Israel,” Pastor Adeboye had prayed for Israel’s “absolute victory” in the ongoing conflict, wishing them permanent peace.

“The almighty God, the only one of Israel, will give you absolute victory and give you permanent peace from now on in the mighty name of Jesus,” he had said in the video.
