Manchester United ready to pay huge fee to ensure Sancho leaves

Jadon Sancho appears poised to make a return to Borussia Dortmund, marking a significant shift in his tenure at Manchester United.

Recent reports suggest that a loan move is imminent, with Manchester United reportedly ready to aid financially in making this transition a reality.

Sancho’s rift with Manchester United escalated after he publicly addressed comments made by Erik ten Hag regarding his training commitment following the team’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal back in September.

This led to his exclusion from the first-team setup due to his reluctance to apologize for his stance.

Though speculations of a potential move to Saudi Arabia surfaced and fizzled out, Sancho seems inclined to rejoin Dortmund on loan.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sancho perceives Dortmund as the optimal avenue to revitalize his career and has given his approval for the move.

Negotiations between Manchester United and Dortmund currently revolve around determining the loan fee and how Sancho’s wages will be covered.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has reported that Manchester United is prepared to make a substantial contribution to Sancho’s salary, given that he stands as one of their highest earners, drawing a weekly wage upwards of £200,000.

The decision to opt for a loan rather than a payout stems from Manchester United’s intent to safeguard Sancho’s market value, having acquired his services from Dortmund for £73 million in 2021.

Despite his stint at United yielding 12 goals in 82 appearances, his performance levels have fluctuated in comparison to his prolific spell at Dortmund, where he contributed to 19 goals in 26 Bundesliga games during the 2020/21 season, securing the DFB Pokal before his move to United.

Sancho, despite remaining at Carrington, has been training with the academy while negotiations unfold.

Regarding the situation, Erik ten Hag addressed it last month, emphasizing the importance of meeting certain standards within the club’s culture, indicating that Sancho is aware of the necessary steps to facilitate a potential return.

“It is about a culture, and every player has to match certain standards, and it was about that,” commented Ten Hag during a press conference.

“What will happen there, he knows what he has to do if he wants to return, and it is up to him. He knows what he has to do; it is up to him. We will see what will happen. It is an internal matter; we will see what will happen.”
