He Comes Home A Hero—Jay Jay Okocha on Cameroon Goalie

Score a much needed goal to help secure a crucial win for your team, you become a hero, make countless saves that helps your team secure points, your name gets sang at home for years to come, and for Cameroon goalie, Devis Epassy, he may have just ingrained his name into legendary status in Cameroon according to Super Eagles legend, Jay Jay Okocha.

Following his great performance against Brazil in the World Cup on Friday, Cameroon goalie Devis Epassy has received praise from Austin Jay Jay Okocha, a former Super Eagles of Nigeria player.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were unable to advance to the next stage of the Qatar World Cup despite defeating Brazil 1-0.

This was due to the previous game in the group ending with a 3-2 victory for Switzerland.

In the 92nd minute, Vincent Aboubakar, the captain of Cameroon, scored the game’s lone goal with a header but was later sent off for removing his shirt.

Gabriel Martinelli of Arsenal attempted to score in the 15th minute, but Epassy made a save and again just before halftime to prevent the Premier League star.

Guimaraes’ header was similarly saved by Epassy to keep Cameroon ahead at the end of regulation.

Okocha told SuperSport:

“He’s going home as a hero, made a very good fantastic save here.

“It was all about his positioning, he made it look easy because he was in the right position and they’ve managed to follow up as well and pushed that one over.”
