Free train rides: Port Harcourt to Aba railway open for commuters

The Federal Government has declared free passenger train rides along the recently rehabilitated Port Harcourt to Aba railway line.

Oloruntola Oluremi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, made the announcement on Tuesday evening.

According to the statement, the complimentary train service will be available from May 1 to May 4, offering daily departures from Port-Harcourt at 8 am bound for Aba, and return trips from Aba to Port-Harcourt departing at 3 pm.

Full commercial operations are slated to resume on May 7.

The announcement comes in the wake of the inauguration of the Port Harcourt-Aba rail line by Minister Senator Said Alkali earlier on Tuesday.

During the inauguration, Minister Alkali emphasized the government’s dedication to facilitating trade and enhancing mobility across the region.
