Erik ten Hag pressures Man United board over Andre Onana

Manchester United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, has emphasized the urgency of securing a deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana, urging the club’s board to complete the transfer as soon as possible.

Ten Hag’s plea comes after witnessing his team commence their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory over Leeds United in Oslo.

With the departure of last season’s Golden Glove winner, David de Gea, whose contract recently expired, Manchester United find themselves in need of a new goalkeeper.

The club had initially hoped that De Gea would delay finding a new club until there was greater clarity over their pursuit of Andre Onana. However, the Spanish goalkeeper announced his departure from the Red Devils last Saturday.

Manchester United is currently in the process of finalizing the signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan. However, negotiations have hit a hurdle, as the Serie A side is demanding a fee of £51 million for the talented goalkeeper.

When asked about the importance of expediting the deal for Onana, Erik ten Hag expressed his desire for a swift resolution. He acknowledged the significance of the goalkeeper position and the need to secure a suitable replacement promptly. However, the head coach also conveyed his satisfaction with the current squad of players at his disposal.

Ten Hag’s statement indicates the club’s recognition of the pivotal role played by a goalkeeper and the urgency to fill the void left by De Gea’s departure. Manchester United’s board now faces the task of navigating the negotiations with Inter Milan and striking a deal that satisfies both parties.

As the pre-season preparations continue, Manchester United remains focused on securing the services of Andre Onana to bolster their goalkeeping options.

The anticipation grows among fans, eager to witness the resolution of the transfer and welcome a new shot-stopper to the club.
