Raphael Varane confirms Manchester United exit

Like Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag said, ‘eras come and go’, and for defender, Raphael Varane, the Centre Backs era at Old Trafford comes to its end.

The former Real Madrid defender has today confirmed his exit from the club as his contract reaches its end this summer with no chance at a renewal by the club.

Raphael Varane in a video posted on his socials, bade the fans farewell ahead of the team’s final match of the season, promising to bid fans a proper goodbye at Old Trafford.

“I’ll see you all at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season, It’s going to be a very emotional day for me.”

The French international made the move to England from Real Madrid under the management of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. However, Varane’s time at Manchester United has been marred by injuries and fitness concerns.

According to reports, it is speculated that his exit from the club has to do with United’s hierarchy wanting to cut down on top earners at the club as they look to move on from the Glazers era to begin the INEOS era.

Raphael Varane since his move to Manchester United, has led the team to a 3rd place finish and two domestic cup finals, winning the Carabao Cup along the way.
