"We over performed" -- Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag following the defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, recounts his time so far in the premier league and whether he holds any regrets joining the club.

It should be recalled that prior to joining the famous Old Trafford side, a former Manchester United coach, also of Dutch nationality, Louis van Gaal had publicly warned the former Ajax manager from joining the club as manager.

The Netherlands coach was infamous for his time at Old Trafford despite leading the Red Devils to an FA Cup trophy win and a 4th place finish in the 2014/15 season. With reports that his compatriot Erik ten Hag was close to a move to the club, Louis van Gaal publicly voiced his disapproval.

However, Erik ten Hag maintains his excitement despite the Red Devils potentially ending the season outside the European spot.

According to the Manchester United boss, his first season as manager was if anything; an over achievement as the Red Devils finished in 3rd spot in the premier league table as well as making it to 2 finals and winning one.

“This is a massive club. You don’t know the challenges you have to face until you are in it. But I wanted this challenge and have not had one second when I regret that decision,” Ten Hag expressed about the club.

“I am really happy to be here. In the first year I would say it was a good formation. We played to our levels, maybe we over-performed.

“In this one we haven’t and I know why, but we are still in an FA Cup final and that is a great achievement.”
