We can channel our anger on pressing issues – Williams Uchemba says after Nigeria fail to qualify for World Cup

Nollywood actor, Willaims Uchemba has said that Nigeria’s Super Eagle losing the World Cup slot might be a good thing.

On Tuesday, Super Eagles lost the World Cup slot to Qatar after a 1-1 draw with Ghana’s Black Stars, at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The first leg game in Kumasi had ended 0-0 leaving the Ghanaians to qualify on the away goal rules.

Reacting to Super Eagle’s defeat, Comic actor, Williams Uchemba stated that it might be a good thing as it will allow issues of the country, Nigeria to be addressed properly.

Citing the Abuja-Kaduna train attack, Uchemba expressed his disappointment that some leaders are yet to address the issue as almost a thousand citizens are yet to be accounted for.

He wrote;

“Maybe it’s good we lost so we can channel our anger on pressing issues in the country. Almost 1000 Nigerian citizens cannot be accounted for and some people are acting like it’s a normal thing.”

“If it takes losing a match to get us upset and know that we are in a hell hole so be it. Some heads of state are yet to make a statement on the issue. I guess they are busy planning for 2023.”

In a similar event, actress Mary Njoku, made a similar expression with Uchemba over the country’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to her, if Nigeria qualified for the World Cup, it will be a distraction as it will dampen the bigger picture that needs to be addressed.

Thank God we didn’t qualify for the world cup. It would have been a distraction. We need to focus on the real problems in Nigeria. And pressure the Govt to do something. An attack on a train! An attack at the airport!”
