Mary Njoku excited as Nigeria didn’t qualify for 2022 World Cup, gives reason
Nollywood Actress, Mary Remmy-Njoku has revealed why she’s glad Nigeria’s Super Eagles didn’t qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
TopNaija reports that Nigeria’s Super Eagles, on Tuesday were denied a World Cup ticket to Qatar after a dull 1-1 draw with Ghana’s Black Stars, at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
The first leg game in Kumasi had ended 0-0 leaving the Ghanaians to qualify on the away goal rules.
The actress and filmmaker, Mary Njoku, has expressed happiness over the country’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Taking to her Instagram page, she opined that if Nigeria qualified for the World Cup, it will be a distraction as it will dampen the bigger picture that needs to be addressed.
According to the filmmaker, qualifying would diverge people’s attention from the core problems Nigeria is facing especially insecurity.
Citing the Abuja-Kaduna train bombing and the Kaduna airline disaster, the CEO of ROK TV stated the government needs to be pressured and rise to its responsibility of safeguarding lives and properties.
Remmy Njoku said; ”Thank God we didn’t qualify for the world cup. It would have been a distraction. We need to focus on the real problems in Nigeria. And pressure the Govt to do something. An attack on a train! An attack at the airport!”
” The insecurity in Nigeria is alarming! No more unnecessary distractions!!!! This needs everyone’s attention!!”
