Ukraine War: Ex-Brazilian President Accused Of Parroting Russian Propaganda

The United States has accused former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of parroting Russian propaganda.

Lula had earlier made comments during a speech on April 12th in which he claimed that the conflict in Ukraine was caused by the United States and its allies.

In response, the US State Department issued a statement calling Lula’s comments “disappointing” and accusing him of repeating “Kremlin talking points.”

The statement also reaffirmed the United States’ support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The conflict in Ukraine began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists took control of parts of eastern Ukraine. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and ongoing tensions between Russia and Western countries.

Lula’s comments have been met with criticism from some in Brazil, with opposition politicians accusing him of taking a pro-Russian stance.

Lula served as president of Brazil from 2003 to 2010.
