PSG Manager Labeled Lucky Over Neymar Injury

A positivity from negativity, Paris Saint-Germain boss, Christophe Galtier told to count on his stars as Neymar is ruled out injured for the remainder of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Christophe Galtier has been described as “lucky” following the news that Brazilian superstar Neymar will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

Neymar sustained the injury during PSG’s 4-3 win over Lille in February and will now undergo surgery, which could see him out for up to four months.

In a statement, PSG said:

“The Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity.”

While the loss of Neymar could be detrimental to the team’s chances in the Champions League, some have suggested that PSG are more balanced without him in the starting XI.

1998 World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry has said that it is an “incredible chance” for Galtier to release Neymar and build a more balanced team.

“It’s lucky for Christophe Galtier that Neymar is injured,” he said. Galtier has agreed with Dugarry’s comments, but has also admitted that Neymar’s loss is a big blow for the team.

“I see there has been a debate around this. It’s a loss, clearly. Is the team more balanced? Yes,” Galtier said. “Is it better like this? I will say that having him is better to score goals.”

PSG will face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday, with the first leg ending in a 2-1 victory for the French side.
