President Biden breaks silence on the 2 bills passed by Reps

President Joe Biden has called upon the Senate to promptly advance legislation following the House of Representatives’ decisive votes on aid packages for Ukraine and Israel, amidst ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

In response to the House’s bipartisan support for the aid measures, Biden emphasized the critical importance of delivering essential support to both Israel and Ukraine, as well as providing assistance to regions affected by conflict and disasters worldwide.

He urged the Senate to expedite the legislative process, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

“Today, members of both parties in the House of Representatives voted to advance our national security interests by passing urgently needed legislation delivering critical support to Israel and Ukraine, and aid for those impacted by conflict and disasters around the world.

“I urge the Senate to quickly send this package to my desk.”

The House’s actions on Saturday saw the passage of a $61 billion aid package for Ukraine, alongside allocations of $26 billion for Israel and $8.12 billion for the Indo-Pacific region. These bills, which garnered broad bipartisan support, are set to proceed to the Senate for further consideration, alongside other significant legislation.

In a show of unity, 101 Republicans and 210 Democrats voted in favor of the Ukraine aid, with only one member voting present. Similarly, the Israel bill passed with overwhelming support, securing a vote of 366-58, with 193 Republicans and 173 Democrats backing the measure.

With the Senate poised to take up the House-passed bills on Tuesday, Biden’s call for swift action underscores the pressing need to address global challenges amid escalating tensions in various regions.
