Nigerian Football is dead, Super Eagles living on Past glory

This isn’t the Super Eagles we know, and the Nigerian Football Federation better start taking notes before the world realizes the fraud in front of them.

The Nigerian Super Eagles played their last game in the group stage of the 2024 AFCON tonight, and by all accounts, it was rather a disappointing 1-0 win than it was a game to pride in for fans.

A disappointing 3-point to leave the famed Super Eagles hanging on to second place, behind surprise group winners, Equatorial Guinea whose final group stage clash versus hosts, Cote d’Ivoire created by far the best shocker in the group as they railroaded the Elephants on their way to the knockout stages in a 4-0 mauling.

A 4-0 score line perhaps was what many Nigerian fans predicted would fair well for the Super Eagles heading into the clash against Guinea Bissau who thanks to an own goal Opa Sangante meant their journey in the 2024 AFCON ended without a point in the group stages. An unfair outcome for a side who very well could have exposed the Nigerian national team for the fraud they are.

The Super Eagles flew into the tie as obvious favorites following their 1-0 defeat of hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the previous game. However, the 1-0 defeat of the host was rather a result that fans read too much meaning into considering Equatorial Guinea left the Ivorians humbled on home ground in a 4-0 humiliation, exposing Nigeria to the reality that should be facing the Super Eagles and the Nigerian Football Federation.

Nigeria vs Guinea-Bissau live updates: Nigeria lead take di lead as Guinea- Bissau do own goal - BBC News Pidgin

Nigeria football as it stands, is dead, and what the Super Eagles has going for it, are past glories of an old era that brought the flare to African football.

This current team, led by Jose Peseiro is far from what the past era were all about, and judging from what fans witnessed versus Guinea Bissau, it wouldn’t be long until the world sees the Super Eagles for what they are; an overhyped team that has individuality going for it.

Speaking of the game versus the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau, it was rather an unfair defeat for them than it was a deserved victory for Nigeria.

Throughout, the 90 minutes of play, the Djurtus held more possession, had better control of the game than the Super Eagles that they were able to register 5 shots on target against the Nigerian team to make their 1-0 defeat even more haunting as Nigeria registered zero shots against them.

Even more disappointing was the fact that the Super Eagles’ goal was gifted by the Djurtus themselves who if all things were equal, could very well have bowed out of AFCON with a point or 3 had Opa Sangante scored on the opposite end.
