Manchester United no longer for sale -- The Glazers

Talk about fans being taken on a ride, and you might never get anything close to what American owners such as the Glazers, Fenway Sports Group have placed club fans of Manchester United and Liverpool through.

After months of expressing interest in selling the club, the Glazer family that owns premier league club, Manchester United, have been reported by Mail Sport to be taking the Old Trafford club off the market.

According to the report, this is because the Glazers haven’t gotten anything close to the price they are asking to let go of the club.

This decision won’t go so well for the American family, as there are expected to be some backlash in protest of the latest development.

The Manchester United fanbase have been in protest of the Glazers’ continuous ownership of the Red Devils over how the club is being ran in recent years. This has resulted in campaigns by the fanbase requesting the exit of the Americans from the club.

However, the report says the Glazers are prepared for the worse outcome and will not be deterred by whatever development emerges in response to the news.

“The Glazers are thick-skinned and will not be influenced by any negative fan reactions.” a source close to the situation said.

In November of last year, the Glazers made it known they were open to offers for selling the club, either 100 percent stake of the club or a partial sale that still leaves them with a sizeable take.

This was largely after a similar report came up that counterparts, Fenway Sports Group were looking to sell Liverpool Football Club.

However, serious bidders whom the Glazers had expected to queue up for the club’s sale did not materialize for the American owners, presumably leading to the Glazers taking the club off the market.

Only two serious bidders emerged, with Sheik Jassim of Qatar, who wanted the whole club and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose offer would have left the Glazers with a minority interest.

Reports had emerged that the Qatari bid was accepted but the situation has now changed, and the Glazers are reported to be willing to try again in 2025 when they hope financial and “environmental” factors may attract more bidders.

The American billionaires want to sell Manchester United from between £7 billion and £10bn.
