“We have completed the signing of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich on a long-term contract, subject to a work permit” the Reds confirmed on their social media handles ahead of deadline.

This means Gravenberch will not be able to play a part in Liverpool’s Sunday fixture against Unai Emery’s side, Aston Villa.

Speaking on the move to Liverpool, Ryan Gravenberch said in quote;

“If you see from the outside, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

On the decision to move to Merseyside and whether club captain, Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo played a role, Gravenberch said;

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Before the move I spoke a lot with the guys and they said we have a good team, everything is top here. Actually my decision was quick.”

The Dutchman joins as the club’s fourth signing of the summer in a midfield rebuild that follows the exit of key Liverpool stars this summer.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp also had some words to say about Ryan Gravenberch’s signing, stating in reference to the Dutchman’s difficult spell with Bayern Munich and under Thomas Tuchel;

“How Thomas Tuchel said today in the press conference in Munich I think, the position he is best at, they don’t really have in their system. We have that – that’s good.”

However, Klopp did express his excitement regarding the signing while speaking with the club’s media team, saying;

“Really happy to bring him in because he’s an exceptional talent. Everybody knows that. He is 21, played over 100 games for Ajax already.”

Speaking on the move, Sky Sports reporter, Melissa Reddy said;

“LFC‘s long pursuit of Ryan Gravenberch is successful. The midfielder has signed a deal until 2028, subject to a work permit. Fee around €40m. Another multi-functional player who offers tactical flexibility in the centre of the park.”
