Manchester United draw up 3-man transfer shortlist

Amid a challenging start to the 2023/24 campaign, Manchester United is reportedly eyeing reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window, with a three-man shortlist taking shape.

Following a string of signings during the summer, including Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Sofyan Amrabat, Sergio Reguilon, and Jonny Evans, United’s performance this season has fallen below expectations.

Erik ten Hag’s side currently sits at seventh place in the Premier League standings, coupled with an unfortunate exit from the Champions League after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.

In preparation for the upcoming transfer window, speculation suggests United has outlined a trio of targets. According to insights from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via The United Stand, discussions have taken place with representatives linked to Timo Werner, Serhou Guirassy, and Donyell Malen.

However, the potential move hinges on a decision regarding the future of Anthony Martial within the team.

Romano commented, “Donyell Malen is seeking a departure from Borussia Dortmund, eager to embark on a fresh challenge. He has also secured new representation, indicating a potential move.”

He continued,

“Timo Werner remains open to exploring options across Europe and is considering a return to the Premier League in January.”

Romano further noted,

“Then there’s Guirassy, whose release clause of €17.5 million to Stuttgart makes him an enticing prospect for the January market. Although Stuttgart is keen on retaining him until the summer window, United has engaged with representatives of these three players.”

The club appears to be assessing its options, with the outcome likely influenced by Anthony Martial’s situation, shaping the type of player Manchester United seeks to add in the upcoming transfer window.
