"It's tough" -- Ian Wright on Arsenal's title Hopes

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed skepticism about his former team’s chances of clinching the Premier League title this season, citing the formidable challenge posed by competitors.

Under Mikel Arteta’s guidance, Arsenal currently holds the third position in the league table, amassing 27 points from 12 matches. The Gunners trail behind league leaders Manchester City by only one point and share the same points tally with second-placed Liverpool.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s near miss in the previous season when they held the top spot for 248 days but eventually finished as runners-up to Manchester City, Wright acknowledged the difficulty of achieving league triumph this term.

Speaking on the Stick To Football YouTube channel, Wright stood by Arteta’s managerial capabilities, emphasizing that the assessment of the coach should not solely hinge on the title outcome.

“I don’t think so, it would depend on the manner,” Wright commented on Arteta’s potential tenure continuation in the event of failing to secure the title.

The Arsenal legend acknowledged Arteta’s decisive moves, including recent player acquisitions that have faced scrutiny. He highlighted Arteta’s focused approach and emphasized that the manager would be under scrutiny at the season’s end to gauge his overall performance.

However, Wright conveyed his belief that the pursuit of Manchester City, given their dominant form, presents an immense challenge for any team in the league, not just for Arteta’s Arsenal.

“The margins you’re trying to gain are very tough, and it’s going to be tough for anybody to try and do it, not just Mikel,” Wright stated, hinting at the considerable task of catching up with the high-flying Manchester City.
