Unwanted Record: First time it is ever happening to Declan Rice

Amidst the disappointment of crashing out of the Champions League in the quarter-final round against a poor Bayern Munich side, Arsenal, midfielder Declan Rice reached an unwanted career milestone that drew attention from West Ham fans on social media.

Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal from West Ham in a £105 million deal last summer, experienced his first failure to progress beyond the quarter-final stage of a European competition.

Previously with West Ham, Rice contributed to a Europa Conference League triumph in his debut European campaign and reached the semi-final of the Europa League the following season, only to be eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt under manager David Moyes.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s success ensured that Harry Kane’s aspirations of securing his first career trophy remained intact.

Hence, while Declan Rice has all the negative emotions to process following the 1-0 defeat, Harry Kane was on the positive end of the result speaking to TNT Sports after the match.

The England captain expressed his delight at the victory, emphasizing the team’s resilience throughout a challenging season.

Arsenal defeat to Bayern Munich leaves season hanging by a thread

“It’s been a tough season for us. We’ve had to fight and grind it out at times. We knew we could make the difference with our fans at home. To reach the semi-finals is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy it.” Kane stated.

Reflecting on the match, Kane highlighted the importance of maintaining tempo and aggression, acknowledging the difficulty of Champions League fixtures. He emphasized Bayern Munich’s expectations of success in the competition and outlined the team’s determination to continue their pursuit of the trophy.

“The expectation here is to try and win the Champions League. Now we have to enjoy the Champions League and try to get ready for Saturday.”
