Eden Hazard contemplates retirement after rejecting Miami deal

End of an Era for former Chelsea winger, Eden Hazard?

Former Chelsea winger, Eden Hazard is reportedly ‘contemplating retirement’ from football at the age of just 32 after terminating his contract with Real Madrid this summer.

The Belgian joined the Spanish side for a bumper transfer fee of £100 million in 2019 from Chelsea after establishing himself as one of the best players in the world at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid career has been plagued by lengthy injury layoffs and little impact in the team when on the pitch.

He was limited to just 54 league appearances in four years with Los Blancos, and scored just seven goals across all competitions.

Following his exit from Real Madrid, there were talks of Eden Hazard linking up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami or returning to Belgium, but reports now state he is considering retirement from the game.

According to reports in AS, the 32-year-old has rejected an offer from Miami which may force him to hang up his boots altogether given the toll the injuries have had on his body.

The report also claim that Eden Hazard’s family do not fancy moving from the Spanish capital which might impact any decision the Belgian may face.

Eden Hazard has already bowed his hat with the Belgium national team following the group stage exit at the 2022 World Cup, which leaves his club career hanging in the cusp of retirement.

The former Lille star’s career has seen him win the Premier League and Europa League twice, scoring 110 goals in 352 games in a spell that saw him pick up four Player of the Year awards at Chelsea.

With Real Madrid, despite not playing much or having a major impact in the team, Hazard won a couple of trophies such as the La Liga which he won twice, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
