Hon. Wale Adedayo, the suspended Chairman of Ogun State’s Ijebu East Local Government Area, has been freed by the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to TopNaija, the secret police held the council chairman since last Friday as a result of a petition alleging that he was making provocative remarks that would endanger the peace in the community.

TopNaija reported that Adedayo has charged Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun of misappropriating statutory federal funding owed to the state’s local governments during the previous two years.

Adedayo also filed complaints with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) requesting that the governor be looked into for allegedly misusing local government monies.

Adedayo, however, claimed that he was freed after being called by the DSS as a result of a petition filed against him in a Monday interview with The Punch.

The troubled LG chief said that he had admitted to the DSS that, except for his claim that local governments had received no funding from the state in the previous two years, he had never made any inciting remarks.

He said that despite his difficulties so far, he had not been rattled and that he would undoubtedly contest what he believed to be his unlawful removal from office last Thursday.

Adedayo said that other chairmen in the state had supported the letter that was drafted to report Governor Dapo Abiodun to the previous governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

The head of the council expressed his amazement that everyone had decided to quit the fight, which was mainly intended to promote good governance at the local level.

Remember that the suspended chairman had petitioned the anti-graft organizations with identical claims that the state governor had misappropriated public monies.

However, the state’s Joint Account and Allocation Committee rejected the claim, stating that every penny it had authorized had gone via the different Local Council Accounts.
