Al-Nassr star, Cristiano Ronaldo has been excluded from the latest ranking of the biggest icon in sporting history by British sports media, GiveMeSport.

However, his closest rival, Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi is named in the number 7 spot amongst many influential names in the history of athleticism.

It stands as quite the ironic ranking as the Argentine takes on the iconic number Cristiano Ronaldo is well known for by the football world, while he misses out in the 10 ranking.

Of all the sporting icons, only three football stars made it into the top 10, with two of them making it ahead of Lionel Messi.

These ideally are the late football legends, Diego Maradona and Pele who revolutionized the sport in their days.

Messi, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, cemented his place in the global ranking of most influential sports icon in the world, cemented his legacy in the world of football following his historic FIFA World Cup triumph with the Argentina national team in 2022.

In the world’s biggest icon in sporting history ranking; Diego Maradona is listed as number 1 for guiding Argentina into the World Cup in 1986, with basketball legend, Michael Jordan coming in second and Pele coming in third.

However, the likes of Serena Williams, Muhammad Ali, Usain Bolt, Tom Brady and Cristiano Ronaldo combined to make the top 15 list.
