Arsenal release 3-man transfer Shortlist after Fulham defeat

Following the defeat to Fulham and amidst the January transfer window opening, Arsenal are reported to be on the quest for attacking options and have supposedly released a 3-man shortlist of alternative targets to Ivan Toney.

The setback against Fulham, marked by goals from Raul Jimenez and Bobby De Cordova-Reid overturning Bukayo Saka’s opener, compounded Arsenal’s consecutive Premier League defeats, accentuating their pressing need for increased firepower.

Reports suggest Mikel Arteta’s side maintains an interest in Brentford forward Ivan Toney, exploring the possibility of securing his services in January, as indicated by The Independent.

However, impediments loom large over a potential deal, notably financial constraints under Financial Fair Play regulations and Toney’s hefty £80 million valuation.

Moreover, Toney’s absence from the game for the past eight months following a breach of the FA’s gambling regulations adds a layer of uncertainty to the feasibility of a January move.

Amidst these challenges, Arsenal has devised a contingency plan, unveiling a trio of alternative targets, as per CBS Sports sources.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen emerges as a prominent figure on Arsenal’s radar, boasting eight goals from 18 appearances this season. However, his £120 million release clause seemingly surpasses the club’s financial scope.

Joining the roster of potential recruits is Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez, a standout performer for Inter Milan with 17 goals in 23 games, underlining his prowess as a sought-after striking option.

The list further includes Bayer Leverkusen’s rising star, Victor Boniface, impressing with an impressive tally of 16 goals from 23 appearances under the tutelage of Xabi Alonso.
