Piers Morgan gives up on Arsenal Premier League title charge

Following Arsenal‘s disappointing 2-1 defeat against Fulham, Piers Morgan, a vocal Arsenal supporter, launched scathing criticism against the team, labeling their performance as ‘depressing’ and ‘dreadful’ while unequivocally dismissing their chances of clinching the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal held the opportunity to conclude 2023 at the top of the table but stumbled at Craven Cottage, initially taking the lead through Bukayo Saka’s goal in the opening five minutes.

However, Raul Jimenez’s equalizer at the 29th-minute mark, followed by Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s close-range strike after exploiting defensive frailties from a corner, sealed Fulham’s victory.

Despite creating chances, Mikel Arteta’s side failed to regain momentum, allowing Marco Silva’s Fulham to secure a well-deserved win, concluding their 2023 campaign on a high note.

The defeat marks Arsenal’s second consecutive loss, following their 2-0 defeat against West Ham at home earlier in the week.

Their year-end Premier League standing positions them in fourth place, trailing leaders Liverpool by a potential five points should Jurgen Klopp’s side win their pending fixture against Newcastle on New Year’s Day.

Expressing his disappointment on Twitter post-game, Arsenal enthusiast Piers Morgan lambasted the team’s performance, asserting the futility of their title aspirations.

“Another inexplicably dreadful performance. You can’t lose to Aston Villa, West Ham, and Fulham in three weeks and expect to win the Premier League. It’s over before we even get to 2024,” Morgan expressed in frustration.

Throughout the match, Morgan characterized Arsenal’s display as ‘depressing,’ lamenting their stark contrast to the confident form exhibited by the team in the previous season.

Commenting after Fulham’s second goal, he remarked,

“That was coming. Arsenal look a pale imitation of last year’s swaggering team. Depressing to watch.”
