What Erik ten Hag said on Mason Greenwood's exit and future

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has set the record straight on Mason Greenwood’s exit from the club as confirmed recently by the club.

Speaking ahead of the match versus Nottingham Forest, the Dutchman insists his focus and loyalty is on the players in the squad that he has to work with.

The Man United boss refused to comment on Mason Greenwood’s departure from Old Trafford when asked by reporters to about the former Manchester United player.

The former Ajax manager as quoted during his pre-match press conference, said;

“Look, we are not where we want to be with our team, I have a lot of work and a lot of focus on my team, so I focus on the players who are available.

“I only have statements about our performance, our squad, where we have to improve because it’s clear, we have to improve. I have to put every effort in to get the team to perform.

“I focus on the current squad and the players available.

“Once again, what Manchester United fans expect is a winning Manchester United and I’m responsible for that and I have to put all my effort and all my focus and make us play better than we do now.’’

Mason Greenwood following the controversy that plagued the former England international a year ago, was let go by the club following the conclusion of internal investigations by the club.

The 21-year-old was arrested and subsequently charged by Manchester Police with attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault in January last year.

Though charges against the Greenwood were dropped, United went on to pursue its own internal investigations before letting go of the player prior to the summer transfer window closing.
