What Arteta regrets now at Arsenal -- Gabby Agbonlahor

Former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has voiced his concerns over Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s regret regarding a significant portion of his transfer budget being allocated to the signing of Kai Havertz.

Agbonlahor suggests that Arteta’s decision to bring in Havertz may have repercussions for Arsenal’s chances in the Premier League title race, asserting that the German midfielder may not be the solution the Gunners need.

According to the ex-England international, the funds utilized for Havertz’s acquisition could have been better spent on securing a striker, specifically mentioning Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Arsenal secured the services of Kai Havertz from Chelsea during the summer of 2023, shelling out £65 million for the 24-year-old midfielder.

However, Havertz’s performance has been less than stellar, contributing just five goals and one assist in 30 appearances across various competitions for the North London club this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor expressed the frustration among Arsenal fans and highlighted the potential repercussions of Arteta’s transfer decision.

The former captain emphasized that redirecting the funds towards a goal-scoring option like Ivan Toney could have been a more prudent move for the club.

“I think the biggest thing Arsenal fans are annoyed with and what Arteta will regret is spending a lot of his transfer budget on Havertz,”
