Wayne Rooney Gives Ronaldo The Silent Treatment

The Piers Morgan interview with Cristiano Ronaldo divided the internet and most specifically the entire fan base of Manchester United that ironically has included United great, Wayne Rooney into the conversation.

For the former Manchester United striker, he chooses to avoid the conversation entirely by not adding more fuel to the flames with a response to Ronaldo’s dig on him.

The Manchester United icon, Wayne Rooney is noted to be “bemused” by Cristiano Ronaldo’s remarks about him, but he has decided not to make a public statement about them.

Ronaldo blasted the Premier League squad, manager Erik ten Hag, and ex-teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney in an interview with Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old claimed Wayne Rooney was envious of him because “he concluded his career and I’m still playing at a high level,” in reference to their relationship.

In response to the explosive interview, Sky Sports News reports: “Rooney has decided he is going to make no public statement on the matter.”

It added that Rooney:

“…feels that Ronaldo needs to accept he is in the latter stages of his career. But being at a club the size of Manchester United means respecting the situation and not expecting to play every minute of every game.”

Fair play to Wayne Rooney, joining in the conversation brings more negative publicity to his former club and further adds to the distraction from the team’s gradual progress.
