"These are sackable offences" -- Manchester United fans

Manchester United fans seemed divided over Erik ten Hag‘s position at the club, but following consistent defeats this season, it appears it may not be long until fans become united over the subject.

Manchester United’s recent clash against Nottingham Forest concluded in a 2-1 loss, amplifying the mounting pressure on manager Erik ten Hag as discontent brews among the Red Devils’ fanbase.

The defeat at the City Ground saw Nicolas Domínguez open the scoring just after the hour mark, countered by Marcus Rashford’s leveling goal in the 78th minute following a crucial error by Matt Turner.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team surged ahead once more, with Morgan Gibbs-White’s sensational 82nd-minute strike securing Forest’s victory.

But preceding the home side’s lead, a contentious decision by Ten Hag drew sharp criticism.

The Dutch manager opted to substitute 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo for Scott McTominay at halftime in a goalless game, triggering dismay among Manchester United fans, who took to social media to express their discontent.

The substitution prompted a wave of backlash:

One user on X platform labeled it a “sackable offence.”

Another demanded immediate action, stating, “If Mainoo ain’t injured then I want Ten Hag sacked on the spot. Don’t even wait until full time.”

A third vented, “TEN HAG OUTTTTTT!!!! THAT IS A CRIMINAL SUBSTITUTION.”

Further criticism followed, with comments condemning the decision as “poor game management” and an “example of bad game management.”

Manchester United’s staggering ninth league defeat this season leaves them trailing in sixth place, unable to surpass West Ham United. With a critical eye on the team’s performance, they are set to resume their league campaign on January 14 against Tottenham.
