Simon Ekpa Has Been Released (SEE DETAILS)
Simon Ekpa is a popular pro-Biafra separatist agitator and a self-acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The Biafra separatist movement seeks to establish an independent state of Biafra in the South-East region of Nigeria, claiming that the region has been marginalized and oppressed by the Nigerian government.
The movement has been a source of tension and conflict in Nigeria, with the government cracking down on its members and supporters.
On Thursday, Ekpa was escorted out of his apartment in Lahti, Finland, by Finnish policemen. He was later released after the police allegedly arrested him for a suspected crime.
The Finnish Central Criminal Police confirmed Ekpa’s release and stated that his arrest was in connection with an ongoing preliminary investigation
Tommi Reen from the Central Criminal Police told HS during a phone interview, “The person being questioned today is suspected of a crime. We will return to the title on Friday.” The police did not provide any further details on the nature of the crime or the ongoing investigation.
Ekpa has been known for his activism in the Biafra separatist movement. He has repeatedly ordered the people of the South-East region to observe a sit-at-home protest, asking them to boycott the country’s general elections.
He has also been vocal on social media, using his platform to advocate for Biafra’s independence and criticize the Nigerian government.
The news of Ekpa’s arrest and subsequent release has generated reactions from supporters and opponents of the Biafra separatist movement.
Some see his arrest as an attack on the movement and a violation of his freedom of speech, while others view it as a necessary measure to maintain law and order.
The situation highlights the ongoing tensions and conflicts surrounding the Biafra separatist movement and its supporters.
