Former Radio Biafra anchorman, Simon Ekpa, has been arrested in Finland.

The arrest took place on Thursday, just 48 hours before the general elections in Nigeria.

Criminal Tommi Reen from the Central Criminal Police confirmed that the arrest was in connection with an ongoing preliminary investigation.

However, no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the investigation or the charges against Ekpa.

Nigeria had reportedly requested Finland to take action against Ekpa, accusing him of inciting violence and secessionist activities in Nigeria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyeama, had invited the Finnish government to intervene in the matter.
