The vice-presidential candidate on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the 2019 general election, Mr Peter Obi, has declared interest to contest for the president of Nigeria in 2023.

Peter Obi, has declared interest to contest for 2023 presidential race barely 24 hours after Atiku declared his interest in the 2023 presidency.

Obi made the declaration before the traditional rulers in the state at the Anambra State Government conference hall Agu- Awka, Anambra State.

He said that he decided to declare his intention first before the monarchs in order to seek their blessings, adding that he needed their prayers and support for the project to be successful.

He contested on the platform of the opposition party alongside Atiku Abubakar who was the presidential candidate of the party and said that after careful studies of Nigeria, he discovered that Nigeria is at the lowest ebb and needed somebody like him to move it forward.

But this time, both Obi and Atiku are contesting for the presidency.

Obi joined the presidential race bare 24 hours after Atiku declared his interest in the 2023 presidency and he said

“My job here is simple, I have come to tell you that I am aspiring to be president of Nigeria, after a careful study, Nigeria today is at the lowest ebb, we are too divided.

“I believe that the government I will lead, will reunite Nigeria, we need unity and peace for the progress of Nigeria; if I have the opportunity, I will lead well, secure Nigeria, we will attract local and foreign investment that will move Nigeria forward.

“The government I will lead will manage Nigeria resources effectively and efficiently for production; my government will invest in critical areas for development including, education, health and pulling people out of poverty,”
