Past Tesla Worker Awarded $137 million

Published

on

A past worker at Tesla identified as Owen Diaz has been awarded $137 million  for dealing with racism on the job.

Diaz had claimed that his supervisor had called him the n-word over 30 times while he was working at Tesla.

However, the award was later reduced to $15 million. Diaz rejected the reduced amount and asked for a retrial.

Unfortunately for Diaz, the retrial did not result in the outcome he was hoping for. Instead of the $137 million originally awarded, he was only granted $3.2 million.

The case has brought renewed attention to issues of racism in the workplace and the need for companies to take swift action to address such behavior.
