Ogun signs $300m partnership deal with World bank

Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, has said the State government has signed a Financing Partnership Agreement worth over $300m with World Bank, an international financial institution that provides loans and grants to the governments of low- and middle-income countries for the purpose of pursuing capital projects, to fund Ogun Economic Transformation projects.

 

Prince Abiodun disclosed this when the 56th Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), led by its President, Mrs. Onome Adewuyi paid him a courtesy visit at his Oke-Mosan office, Abeokuta.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo said the project when completed would further place the State as one of the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria.

Ogun state and World Bank

On her part, the President of the Institute, Mrs. Onome Adewuyi lauded the State Governor for receiving the delegation, noting that the visit would enable government and other stakeholders champion ways of sustaining growth and development of the State and the country at large.

 

Ogun State is a state in southwestern Nigeria. Created in 1976, it borders Lagos State to the south, Oyo and Osun states to the north, Ondo to the east and the Republic of Benin to the west. Abeokuta is the capital and largest city in the state. The state’s appellation is “Gateway to Nigeria”. It was created in February 1976 from the former Western State. The 2006 census recorded a total population of 3,751,140 residents.
