Money Mistakes You Might Be Making

Published

on

Money Mistake 1;

Never spend money you haven’t received. Don’t make a promise based on a promise you have from someone else. Don’t promise money based on expectation.

#Money Mistakes 2:
Don’t spend before saving. Never intend to save what’s left, because what remains is always zero. Human wants are insatiable. When money to spend is not available, we naturally find a way of doing without it. Put your savings aside then spend what is left after saving.

#Money Mistake 2:
When you get an opportunity to meet a very wealthy person, never ask for money. Ask for ideas on how to make money. Don’t give me a fish. Teach me how to be a fisherman.

#Money Mistake 3:
Plant your seeds. In as much as you need to save, you also need to invest. To make money, you have to spend money. But investments must be properly analyzed. Take calculated risks.

#Money Mistake 4:
Never lend someone money you are not willing to lose. Bad debts are real.

#Money Mistake 5:
Never append your signature to guarantee someone on a financial matter if you are not willing or able to pay the money on their behalf. Trust is a double edged sword. Always expect being hurt and have a back up plan.

#Money Mistake 6:
Avoid keeping money you don’t intend to use in the short-term within easy reach. You spend the money you see.

#Money Mistake 7:
Avoid spending money on items you can do without. Don’t be a bonvivant. (at least for the time being).

#Money Mistake 8:
Never pay an amount for something that’s not the minimum you can get that same value for elsewhere, unless you are superlatively wealthy or just want to patronize the seller.

#Money Mistake 9:
Never believe you can help everybody. Learn to say no to some financial demands when necessary. What you call generosity might be financial suicide. It’s not being miserable;it’s learning to live within the boundaries of reality.

#Money Mistake 10:
Consistently spending all you earn or more than you earn. It’s like having a drum where you have an inlet that’s smaller than the outlet. It will never get full. And should the inlet ever reduce significantly the drum will run dry. If you do it the other way round and the inlet is bigger, it will get full and even overflow. Hence, we have to always ensure we are widening the inlet while narrowing the outlet – all the time. Your side hustle comes in handy! Don’t live above your means.

#Money Mistake 11:
Don’t be myopic. Always think about the future.Everyday is not a sunny day.

#Money Mistake 12:
Don’t spend to please anybody. Spend because you have to.
